KINCHANT DAM HABITAT ENHANCEMENT PROJECT
The impoundment barramundi fishing scene in Queensland can be described as an extraordinary fishery with dams such as Tinaroo, Peter Faust, Awoonga and Monduran receiving the lions-share of hype from the fishing fraternity. However, a smaller, lesser-known dam by the name of Kinchant holds its own against these larger dams. This is predominately thanks to a recently completed habitat enhancement project.
The popularity of recreational fishing in stocked impoundments is skyrocketing and because of this, is responsible for generating substantial social and economic flow on benefits to those regional centres where the dams reside. Impoundments with high quality fishing have a greater ability to increase angler visitation from other parts of Queensland, interstate and even overseas. The amount of money an angler is prepared to spend for the possibility to catch that fish of a lifetime should not be underestimated.
