THINGS are picking up since I reported the disappointing start last time (May 19 issue), but not spectacularly so, it has to be said. At least the majority of my Norwich hens have decided to sit their second clutch of eggs now, with no more than one leaving the eggs for a second time after only a couple of days. This time there was a cock left in with her, so that has so far made no difference whatsoever as regards that pair. I lost one of the first two hatched and then, unfortunately, had only a single chick hatch from another nest.
