IN TO THE WILD

Wanderlust is a funny thing. At its heart, it’s about escaping everyday routines and finding fascination in the new and different. For most of us, satisfying that desire has depended on travelling to a faraway land, but as our scope for travel recently reduced to the local, it became clear that we can learn to find escapism and awe much closer to home. Luckily, when we have the freedom to choose once again, there’s a wonderland of landscape and wildlife to explore right here in the UK.

RAINFORESTS + ANCIENT WOODLAND

If there’s one thing you can count on in the UK, it’s plenty of rainfall – the key characteristic of a rainforest. Temperate rather than tropical, the UK’s rainforests (also known as Atlantic woodland) are certainly wet – they are also humid and otherworldly,
