The East Atlantic Flyway is the name given to the route taken by millions of migratory birds as they head south for the winter. Escaping northern Europe, hopping across the Strait of Gibraltar and skirting the coastlines of Morocco and Mauritania, they arrive in tropical Sub-Saharan Africa. This year, they’ll have a companion, as conservationist Sacha Dench will spend four months in a paraglider alongside them to research and raise awareness of the threats the birds face as they cross continents.
