The big reveal of what may or may not be the final season of the police corruption drama almost inevitably divided fans. Some saw it as a cop-out, others a work of genius, but you have to give the show’s creator, Jed Mercurio, credit for at least not leaving any loose ends dangling, well not many anyway.

And in ratings terms this series even exceeded Mercurio’s other major water cooler hit The Bodyguard; almost singlehandedly he has re-invented the event television drama, thought to have been long deceased in the age of multi-channels, streaming and the box set.

That said, this sixth series was one of the weakest of the lot;
