I never used to think too much about bananas. If that perfectly yellow fruit showed up in a bowl, sure, I’d eat it. If someone had asked me to describe how bananas grow, I probably would have said either on a palm tree (like coconuts) or a small bush (like pineapples). It wasn’t until I first set foot in a banana plantation that I was hit with the reality of how little I knew about this ubiquitous fruit – and it changed my life.
