Backscenes come in all manner of forms – painted, printed, photorealistic, even cloth. Some are more realistic in appearance than others. However, by far one of the most challenging aspects of layout construction to master is the transition between 3D model and 2D backscene.
This boundary line is compounded further on layouts engineered to leave a room, where baseboard gaps are omnipresent and scenery must remain resilient. Luckily, for industrial or urban modellers, many a joint or ‘wall of sky’ at a 90-degree angle to the model can be hidden with the careful placement of structures, or low-or half-relief buildings.
