How to avoid a stroke
BLOOD CIRCULATION in the body could be thought of as a river, and like a river we may take it for granted when everything is going well. But when a river bursts its banks, suddenly there’s an emergency – and when blood flow stops or is restricted, likewise, there are sudden, hugely serious consequences.
Heart attacks and strokes are often linked, as in most cases both are caused by a restriction in the supply of blood, usually the result of a blood clot. A heart attack results from stopping blood flow to or from the heart, and a stroke – essentially a brain attack – results from stopping blood flow to the brain.
