Fixed-Up Farmhouse

Monica Madruga was fond of the house years before she became its owner. The property has a long farming history dating back to her great-great grandparents; the house where her grandparents lived was moved to the farm in 1921. She remembers the kitchen being her grandmother’s domain, and how her grandfather organized his accounts at a teacher’s desk on the sun porch. Every corner, every detail is, to her, like a snapshot in time.

“I actually lived on the same street, so I was with my grandparents all the time,” remembers Monica. “I went there almost every day after school. Even when I was older, my husband, Rob, who was my boyfriend at the time, and I visited for dinner and boardgames.
