• Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran medium (worsted) weight cotton yarn (1¾ oz/93 yds/50g per ball):

3 balls each #605 stormy grey, #624 mustard yellow, #620 blood orange and #618 mandarin orange

2 balls each #617 melon sorbet, #616 red wine, #625 pistachio green, #611 coffee bean, #655 peach orange and #610 soft fudge

• Size H/8/5mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

• Tapestry needle

• Stitch markers

GAUGE

14 dc = 4 inches; rows 1–7 = 2¾ inches

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Chain-3 at beginning of row counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.

Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

When changing color, carry and work over color not in use on wrong side of piece until needed unless otherwise stated.

PATTERN STITCHES

Sunflower center:

Rnd 1: 4 sc in back lp (see Stitch Guide) of next st, rotate work 180 degrees, 4 sc in front lp (see Stitch Guide) of same st, join in beg st. (8 sc)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, join in beg st, sl st in next 7 sts. (16 sc, 7 sl sts) Mum center:

Rnd 1: Work same as rnd 1 of sunflower center.

Rnd 2: Working in back lps, ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, join in beg st, sl st in back lp of next 8 sts.

SPECIAL STITCHES

Petal: (Sl st, ch 4, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, ch 3, sl st) in indicated st.

Leaf stitch (leaf st): [Yo, insert hook from front to back to front again around indicated st, pull up a lp] twice (5 lps on hook), yo, draw through 4 lps on hook, yo, draw through last 2 lps on hook.

Fan: 3 dc in indicated st or sp.

Long double crochet (long dc): Dc in indicated st in specified row.
