    urn a small serving tray into a display case for special treasures. Disassemble a glass insert tray by removing the screws. Lightly sand the wood components and apply a light gray paint wash to create an aged appearance. Spray or brush with a matte-finish sealer, if desired. Choose a vintage handkerchief or other piece of fabric with a design that fits within your tray. Apply spray starch to the item and carefully iron it following the starch manufacturer’s directions. Turn the center portion of the tray facedown. Attach strips of double-sided tape along each of the outer edges. Turn right side up. Lay the fabric over the base and press the edges firmly over the tape strips on the back to secure. Insert a small framed picture or other keepsake in the center of the tray.
