Some of you may have noticed a few less factory-spec race teams in the pits at your favourite national championship of late. Well you’re not imagining things. There are less factory-spec teams now than there was 20 years ago, 10 years ago and even five years ago. There are many different reasons for manufacturers scaling back but we for one hope there is some sort of a resurgence in support of our local race scene as it’s made heroes out of people like Gall, Leisk, Dack, Marmont, Reardon, Ferris, Grabham, Price, Milner and Sanders. Having a strong local series, supported by all manufacturers, provides a tangible experience for aspiring juniors and ensures their focus stays on dirtbikes and not any other sport.
