COVID CONCERNS
In late May when the dreaded COVID positive cases started to rise in Victoria, I remember thinking there goes Hattah 2021 down the drain. When Victoria went into a hard lockdown in the first week of June I figured the chance of the Penrite Hattah Desert race going ahead the following month was close to zero. Fast forward to the end of June and it was a big surprise to see that Victoria, the state that had copped the longest and harshest version of COVID rules and restrictions, was for the first time looking like the state to live in. They were recording close to zero COVID cases every day which meant the whole state of Victoria was regarded as a green zone and running on minimum restrictions.
A large number of Hattah competitors come from New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and the Northern Territory every year. As COVID positive case numbers were rising every day in these states, I kept waiting to receive an email from the North West Victorian Motorcycle Club who host the Hattah
