High times in Herefordshire

“Why on earth are you going to Herefordshire?” scoffed a friend upon learning I was heading to the rural West Midlands county.

Privately, I had my own reservations. While staycation heavy-hitters such as Devon, Cornwall and the Lake District have seen an influx of visitors since the beginning of the pandemic, I was interested in exploring a different part of the UK, away from the teeming crowds. However, I was yet to meet anyone who had holidayed in Herefordshire, knew little about the region and couldn’t help wondering if there was a reason for this.
