With a few creative exceptions, one of the fundamental ‘rules’ of photography is that the subject should be sharp. Thankfully, most modern cameras can ensure that’s the case automatically, but there are times when you need to take control to ensure you get the result you want. For example, if you’re photographing a moving subject, it’s best to switch from single autofocus mode to continuous autofocus (C-AF) mode as this tells the camera to continue to focus for as long as the shutter release is half-pressed.
