IS SUMMER, THE WATER temperature is into double figures and m like a kid in a sweet shop. I am spoiled for choice with species and techniques because the warmer water attracts the fish into shallower, weedy inshore areas to feed on the glut of prey .
Areas on my patch in Scotland that were quite barren in the early spring are now filled with life, the kelp beds are thick and harbouring rock-dwelling species like wrasse, pollack and scorpion fish. From here on, my fishing revolves around targeting wrasse with soft lures and fishing metals for the larger species such as cod, pollack and bass. On the east coast of Scotland wrasse seem to disappear over the winter but
