WIZARDTHRONE

Hypercube Necrodimensions

NAPALM

Sci-fi madness from shadowy, all-star maniacs

AN ALL–STAR RABBLE of metal troublemakers, Wizardthrone promise to be very silly indeed, at least on paper. With members of Aether Realm, Nekrogoblikon and (significantly) Alestorm and Gloryhammer in their ranks, this faux-mysterious band of sci-fi-obsessed symphony-wielders could easily have ended up as little more than an expertly executed parody. Instead, Hypercube Necrodimensions is one of the most intense and exciting metal records of the year so far. It’s still supremely silly, of course, and one need only peruse songtitles like Forbidden Equations Deep Within and to know that Wizardthrone are a) deliberately going as far over the top as they possibly can, and b) being quite generous to music journalists trying to hit a word count.
