LAMBRETTA CLUTCH ISSUES
These days when it comes to the Lambretta clutch there are a whole host of options available to choose from, being one of the most developed parts of the engine in the last decade. This is fine if you are fitting an upgraded one into a tuned engine, but there are still many Lambrettas running around on traditional four-plate clutches. Making sure it is working perfectly is an important aspect of the engine's overall reliability. If regularly serviced, it will last a much longer. The problem with the clutch is that it cannot be seen unless the side casing is removed. Due to the fact that it has a hard life from the stress it's put under, problems can remain unnoticed - that is until a part becomes excessively worn or damaged and the clutch as a whole fails.
Warning signs
The clutch comprises of several parts, which all need to be in perfect condition to allow the unit as a whole to work correctly. Wear on one part wi 11 soon spread to another, setting off a chain reaction until the whole thing fails. Therefore, if you start to have problems such as slip, don't wait too long before inspecting it to stop unnecessary damage.
