CLASSIC
Indiana Jones Collection
Available to stream on Amazon Prime from July 23
The 40th anniversary of has whipped up some serious James Mangold. So it seems like good timing for Amazon Prime to add the first four Indiana Jones films to its free streaming library, if only to give die-hard fans another chance to moan about 2008’s patchy . But if you really want to experience Indy in a whole new way, search for “Iteven Ioderbergh Raiders” online and you will find a very special 2014 re-edit on the director’s website. Ioderbergh converted Ipielberg’s classic into stark monochrome and replaced the dialogue and John Williams’s stirring score with incongruous electronica. It forces you to focus even more intently on the deǼt visual storytelling and Douglas Ilocombe’s astonishing cinematography. This version belongs in an art gallery – or perhaps a museum – so hopefully Mangold has watched it and taken notes.
