Fifth-gen Mondeo
When we heard our local garage, MJ Motors, had bought a six-year-old Mondeo with 150k on the clock, we were admittedly bracing ourselves for some repairs. Despite that, it came with a full service history and had new discs and pads all-round which had only covered a few hundred miles due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the various lockdowns. Surprisingly, there was little to worry about. Even the rusty- looking Torx T27 screws that secure the engine undertray were straightforward to undo, along with the handful of varied fastenings that hold the offside front wheelarch. And what was even more reassuring was the accessibility of service items, such as the fuel and oil filter, which were quick and easy to change. Even the engine oil drain plug is a quick-release design, secured with a metal R-clip.
