Last on the list
Sometimes, the list of jobs on a CM project car never gets fully completed, which is not a reflection of the ability of everyone involved, simply typical of an old car with problems that are often difficult to fix. And new problems can appear out of nowhere.
Whatever the reasons, I recently found myself battling with an ever-growing list of problems on two cars that needed to be returned to their owners. The first was the CM MINI Clubman Cooper S and the second was the Daihatsu Terios, which had been bought magazine editor Simon Goldsworthy. The CM Clubman project had finished (see the July 2021 issue), but I was still hoping to fit a replacement body control unit after water ingress had destroyed the old unit and I was using one on loan from mad4mini, which didn’t provide full functionality (the indicators didn’t self-cancel, there was no main beam and the window switches operated back-to-front). MJR MiniMatt came to the rescue and sent me three replacement BCUs to try, so I booked some workshop time with mad4mini to use their diagnostic equipment.
