Kimberlee confesses ‘The stakes are so high’

Global health crises are, it seems, a common thread throughout Kimberlee Downs’ Olympic broadcasting career. The last Games she covered were in Rio de Janeiro, where the threat of Zika virus was everywhere, and they all had to wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants, despite sweltering temperatures, to prevent mosquito bites that led to infection. This year, of course, the complications and ongoing logistical implications of Covid-19 make Rio look like a walk in the park in comparison.
