THE CROSSING, by Cormac McCarthy.
Stylistically, McCarthy ruined me for years. I found myself shedding the constraints of punctuation and writing natural dialogue – my New or almost any of his novels, but is the one that affected me most, particularly the early scenes of a boy and a wolf. It changed how I write, but also how I view my relationship with the natural world.
