More well-known to most for its nightlife, there is a wilder, fresher side to Berlin that might surprise visitors. Also known as ‘the land of 3,000 lakes’, the city and its surrounding state of Brandenburg boasts in excess of 30,000km of waterways and some of Europe’s most magnificent city lakes.
More than 80 aquatic jewels lie within cycling distance of the city centre, offering a lake to fulfil every desire, whether that’s a chilled escape or a raucous social hotspot. And with Germany enjoying consistently warm and reliable summer weather, you’re almost guaranteed to catch a tan.
