Day of reckoning

Once, it was strictly a young person’s naughtiness: call such and such a number, give the secret password, be told when and where, tell your friends but obviously not your parents, drive to the secret location and hope not to get caught ingesting illicit substances.

Now, it’s grown-ups who are arranging the pandemic equivalent of the clandestine rave. Word goes around: such and such a clinic is giving the Covid vaccine to anybody, even if they’re not in the right health district or in a priority group. Tell your friends – heck, hire a bus – and hope not to be caught getting a jab
