The smart car owner didn’t dabble with a Doble — at least, not like a person would with a “regular” car. That’s because the Doble was not a typical car. It was a steamer — a great steamer. Experts back in the days of automotive yore thought it was the perfected steam car. Maybe it was….

The Doble was the type of “classic custom” that the social blue-bloods and wealthy burn-your-money socialites appreciated for its image of standing apart from the main. Might be more mundane in traditional motoring with a hefty dose of snob appeal, great design and rarity. With all that, it wasn’t cheap.
