Having read a recent social media post saying Minitrucks didn’t take off in the UK due to the lack of available material, and knowing one or two people currently hell bent on bringing that era of customising back round again, I thought it apt to look at our Mini Truck Mania issue from August 1991.
There wasn’t much introduction to the phenomenon in the issue, which was largely concerned with the aftermath of the 1991 running of the legend that was Run To The gav us the opportunity to bring trend to the cover of . Bu Florida by one Scot Goddard, the truck had all the latest gear – Bell Tech dropped spindles, Quickor Performance lowering springs and body kit, Center Line Pro Stocks, a thumping sound system and the obligatory wave and heartbeat graphics. “One of the first and lowest [how the kids of today would laugh at the truck being called anything near low these days] on the UK scene,” we called it. Even Top Gear wanted a piece of it, as someone had told them Mini Trucks were hot, too.
