KILLER in the Cove

Claire floated on her back in the water. The sun was warm and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky.

A junior crime reporter for a national newspaper, she was on a much needed break. And Lighthouse Cove seemed the perfect place to get away from it all and relax.

Claire closed her eyes and focused on the waves lapping her toes. ‘Did you hear the news?’ asked a woman who’d been swimming nearby. ‘There’s been another murder.’

‘What?’ Claire said, eyes now open.

‘She was only 18, poor thing,’ the woman said. ‘They found her on the railway tracks, just out of town.’

‘Here in Lighthouse Cove?’ Claire asked.

‘Right here.’

‘And you said… How many have there been?’
