Euro 2020 final: 2021 Date, kick off time and everything you need to know ahead of England vs Italy at Wembley

Source: PA Wire

Euro 2020 comes to a head this week a year after the final was originally scheduled to be held. The tournament was postponed by 12 months due to the coronavirus pandemic, but went ahead this summer and by Wednesday night 24 teams will have been whittled down to only two.

Italy beat Spain on penalties in the first semi-final at Wembley to book their place and England edged Denmark in extra-time 2-1 to earn a home game in a major championship final. Mikkel Damsgaard’s rocket from a free-kick put the Danes ahead with England conceding their first goal of the tournament.

But the Three Lions rallied, equalising with a Simon Kjaer own-goal. The game stretched to extra-time and a foul on Raheem Sterling saw Harry Kane step up from the spot.

Kasper Schmeichel’s save briefly forced the home crowd into silence before the rebound fell kindly to the Tottenham forward, who buried the ball into the back of the net to secure the crucial advantage. The successor to Portugal’s crown as the champions of Europe will then be decided.
