Mixed bag at last mohair sale of season

The final sale of the 2021 summer mohair season, which was held on 8 June, consisted of mixed quality with good-quality individual clips, according to Mohair South Africa. There were 110 260kg on offer, with a final sales clearance of 92%. The stronger rand put pressure on the market, and the average indicator thus dropped 5% from the previous sale to close at R373,50/kg.

Comparing prices with the previous sale, kids’ mohair was down 6%; young goats’ mohair was down 5%; fine adult mohair was down 5%; and strong adult mohair was up 1%.
