In the Comps. workshops Bill Price, Douggie Watts, Den Green and the mechanics are beginning to prepare the gleaming new Hydrolastic Monte Mini Cooper Ss using highly detailed build sheets. (Even Timo, whose usual preference is for rubber suspension is using a ‘wet’ car this time out.) There’ll be extra lighting (the wiring is done by Lucas Racing Team engineers), rally-dressed cockpits, including building the additional rally dashboards, special seats, re-routing cables and pipes inside and fitting the roof racks. A relatively modern innovation is helmets for the crews with microphones and earpieces plugged in to an amplifier
