Seedling PROTECTORS

o protect my lavender seedlings I needed to find something that would stop the hens from digging them up. Whenever I plant something new at my place, the chooks immediately bustle over to take a look and then dig through the nice compost and mulch, looking for insects and digging up the baby plant while they are at it. I found some amazing protectors, called FiberGuard, which are made in New Zealand out of recycled natural pulp fibre and which will slowly degrade into mulch over 24 months, by which time my lavender will be well established. They also create a, they’re $1.50 each (plus postage), and are well worth it.
