TYLER ARBORETUM

west of Philadelphia, Tyler Arboretum is a place of natural beauty with a long history. In 1681, Thomas Minshall bought the property from William Penn. By 1825, two of his descendents, brothers Minshall and Jacob Painter, began planting more than 1,000 plants here for study and enjoyment. The brothers continued a lifelong pursuit of knowledge while managing the family farms and sawmill. The property remained in the family until it was left in trust as the John J. Tyler
