Close encounters

The Olympics loom ever closer and that has got us all to thinking what would it be like racing at the games? With only around 20 boats/boards in most classes these sailors really represent the best of the best. Indeed, sadly there are many extremely talented sailors who do not get the opportunity to go the Olympic games due to sailor athlete quotas (350 for 2020 (2021 in reality) and 330 for 2024).

This makes us think that this style of racing requires a different mind set and maybe even different skill set. Just as match racing is quite different to huge fleet racing where you have to start using a gate start (sadly there are few events left
