OBITUARIES

MAJOR SIR DAVID BLACK BT.

MAJOR SIR DAVID BLACK BT. has died aged 92 after a life dedicated to the army, civic duty, country sports and family. His lifelong natural charm and wit eased him through what he happily conceded was a “lucky life”.

Born in 1929 and raised at the family seat Midgham House, near Thatcham, Berkshire, David rode across the county boundary when the family moved to Elvendon Priory near Woodcote in Oxfordshire in 1947, eventually settling across the valley at Beech Farm in 1997.
