The Duke of Edinburgh remembered

On 16 April 2021, a week after her husband’s death on 9 April, Her Majesty The Queen shared a private photograph of her and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, on holiday in Scotland. The previously unseen image shows the couple smiling together at the top of the Coyles of Muick in Aberdeenshire, near Balmoral, in 2003. Their happy place; further emphasised by the recent naming of the Queen’s new corgi puppy, Muick.

Personally, the Duke had a long association with Scotland and the royal couple clearly shared their love for the country’s wild, secluded landscapes, which perhaps afforded them the privacy and freedom that some of their royal residences
