‘It’s a commemorative rose for all the marvellous things the Duke of Edinburgh did over his lifetime’
Wearing a blue floral dress in the summer sunshine, the Queen paid a touching tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh ahead of what would have been his 100th birthday last week, by planting a rose in his honour at Windsor Castle.
The Duke of Edinburgh Rose was presented to her by Keith Weed, the president of the Royal Horticultural Society – of which the Queen is patron – before being planted in the Castle’s East Terrace Garden by her head gardener, Philip Carter.
