Better biosecurity urgently needed on South African farms

The affect of the 2017 listeriosis outbreak was felt even by some children, as their favourite ingredient for school lunch boxes, polony, was deemed unsafe for consumption. And since 2018, farmers have battled against foot-and-mouth disease, with the latest outbreak reported in March 2021. (Fortunately, this took place within the protected zone, and is unlikely to spread.)
