A HARBOUR is a safe place on the coast, on a large lake or river where ships can dock. Harbours provide shelter for vessels from large waves and currents. If the harbour is situated in a cove, we call it a natural harbour. Artificial harbours are when people build walls and breakwaters to keep the conditions in the harbour area calm.
There are harbours for house boats, fishing vessels or cruise ships. A commercial harbour where cargo ships or freighters can deliver and receive freight is called a port. Ports are usually equipped with facilities such as forklifts, warehouses and docks. Let’s take a look at the world’s
