Central Bank of Surinam and its Colorful Note Issues

1957 Issue

The Central Bank of Surinam was established in 1957, after Surinam began to develop degrees of self-government from the Netherlands starting in 1954. The Bank Act of 1956 allowed for the implementation of this new bank. The initial issue of the bank consisted of five denominations: 5, 10, 25, 100 and 1000 gulden. A totally revised design was developed by Johann Enschede for this printing, and all notes made use of it. The only difference besides the denomination was
