In a spectacular performance by South African relay runners, Simbine's time and dramatic victory were spectacular especially as he took over the baton three meters down on Brazil's Paulo Andre Camilo de Oliveira. Simbine snatched the victory on the line by a hundredth of a second in a time of 38.71sec.
