Posing for a photograph, I smiled in my birthday sash and said: ‘Cheese!’

It was January 2020, and I was celebrating turning 30 with my family at home.

After singing ‘happy birthday’ and slicing the cake, I flicked through the pictures that my mum had taken.

‘Do I really look like that?’ I asked my fiancé Colin, 50, showing him the photograph.
