Often, the artistic influences and artistry that go into creating textile, wallpaper, lighting and furniture designs go unnoticed or are taken for granted. Months of work go into creating the perfect scale and repeat in a pattern, colourways are trialled until the right palette is curated, and unseen hours of craftsmanship go into delivering the final result.
Many pieces we decorate our homes with are worthy of being called artworks, and we have noticed several that take this further, either with direct references to an artist’s work or a specific period or style of art, be it abstract, watercolour, or sculpture. Here we celebrate these displays of artistry and how to let them, quite rightly, take centre stage at home.
Abstract inspiration
Abstract art, whether playful creativity with block colour and shapes or more expressive use of pattern, has long been an inspiration for rug designers.
