MGF completism
Who can resist the lure of a good car brochure? The glossy pages, captivating images and inspirational marketing spiel… before you know it, you’re already at the back, deciding exactly which one you want, down to the colour and, if they’ve really got you, the little extras that are sure to add, further, and amplify that original decision to buy in. Trouble is, it’s often the case that you have to take a step back when you get to that final page: the dreaded price list. So it was with James Mobberly’s first MGF experience, back in 1999. His was a bottom of the range model but the world of leather, wood, CD changers and VVC would come. All in good time.
It’s testament to the basic rightness of the MGF that James stuck with it despite what was a rather rocky start. His lowly P-reg MPi model had no ABS or power steering, able only to boast the finish
