y definition, prog metal is all about looking for new and imaginative ways to make heavy music. With that in mind, London’s may be the best thing to happen to the genre in years. The trio’s debut album (Candlelight/Spinefarm) brings past, present-era Metallica, early Mastodon and the dark, outer limits of post-hardcore, but with a brutal, imperious atmosphere all of its own. These are huge, skilfully constructed epics with colossal melodic payoffs and a ludicrous number of addictive riffs: in particular, is an instant prog metal classic.
