ARTHUR BROWN’S KINGDOM COME

Five-CD trove of albums, sessions and unreleased archive recordings.

On March 23, 1971 BBC Radio 1’s broadcast a session from Arthur Brown’s Kingdom Come, included on this five-disc box set. It starts with from that year’s . All turbulent organ lines,, probably scratching his head about the whole thing. What follows is anything but, an astonishing performance, like an invitation to (very) with searing cosmic blues guitar. The relatively straightforward , also from that album, offers some respite. But Arthur Brown’s signature sound came from synthesising his love of blues, soul, rock, jazz, classical and eastern music into a hybrid with a countercultural twist and Kingdom Come’s live performances would culminate in his onstage crucifixion.
