Hunting Rimfires

SAVAGE

Savage’s B22 Precision Rimfire rifle is great for NRA22 competition, small-game and close-range varmint hunting. Built on a one-piece aluminium chassis with two support posts made by Modular Driven Technologies (MDT) of Canada, the rifle is finished in black oxide. Features include cheekpiece adjustable for height, a LOP of 14” with two 0.25” removable spacers beneath a 0.75” thick rubber recoil pad. Forend has flat bottom and sides each with four M-LOK slots for attaching accessories and a single M-LOk slot on the bottom for a sling which can also be attached to swivel post toward the front of the forend. The MDT angled grip has a palm swell on both sides. A two position safety on the tang works fine. The B22 Precision has the rimfire version of Savage’s successful AccuTrigger with weight adjustment from 1.5 to 5lbs. Bolt had dual-opposed extractors and a blade-style ejector. A 10-round rotary magazine provides plenty of firepower. The 18” button-rifled barrel has a 1:16 twist and the muzzle is threaded for a suppressor or muzzle brake. The rifle has a Picatinny rail attached to the receiver with screws making it easy to replace with a 30-MoA rail for distance compensation. Overall length is 36.5” and weight 7.63lbs. The new B22 rifle is available in .17 HMR (B17 Precision) and .22WMR (B22 Magnum Precision). The new Savage Rascal Minimalist, a safe single-shot learner’s rifle, has a new colourful laminate stock that has become popular on other Savage rimfires. It is available in pink-and-purple or teal-and-grey versions that retain the 11.5” LOP that make it suitable for small youth shooters. The downsized rifle includes a number of full-size features, including Savage’s user-adjustable AccuTrigger. The 16-1/8” matte-black carbon-steel barrel has an 11 degree crown, and 1/2x28 threaded muzzle.

SAKO

Sako’s Quad Heavy Barrel rifle can take repeated firing without getting too warm. The black synthetic stock has a Monte-Carlo-type cheekpiece and LOP can be adjusted with recoil pad spacers. Barrels are interchanged in a few seconds; insert a tool, turn it three full circles, tilt the barrel upwards while pulling on

Ridgeline Tasman boots
GOOD boots are a must. Comfort, support, durability and construction are important considerations, and the boot you choose needs to suit the type of terrain you hunt. Outer shell construction, sole design and rigidity are of utmost importance. Ridgel
