Early summer arrives at Gresgarth in mid-May and extends to that second week in June, just before the roses are at their best. All the better to see the garden bursting with colour and shades of pale green. Geraniums begin to flower, as do early dianthus, centranthus and ‘Clouds of Perfume’. There are ‘Alba’, ‘Corfu Blue’ and . The last of the bluebells and wild garlic in the wood give way to , and you will spot in the terrace beds, and the last blooms of as ornamental grasses start to emerge.
