Fond farewell to Alan Moore, preservation’s philanthropist

ALAN Moore, who died on April 22 aged 84, did more for railway preservation in Britain than anyone. A lifelong railway enthusiast, he devoted much of the resources earned by his banking career to helping heritage railways, very often behind the scenes and never for his own aggrandisement.
