AS I PULL INTO CAERSWS, THE CONDITIONS ARE A CRISP -1°C WITH BRIGHT SUN. IT LOOKS LIKE I’VE LUCKED OUT FOR TODAY’S PHOTOSHOOT WITH MATT SIMMONDS, AMID A WINTER FILLED WITH DARK, DAMP DAYS.
But I’m not just here to take photos of Matt – even though, as a former World Cup downhiller, he makes some great shapes on the bike. No, I want to find out all about his plans for this place. Catching sight of the ProLine MTB van outside the Seasons Cafe, I park up. Matt’s already got his butty order in, so we chat about the past of this classic Welsh race venue over a brew.
